Here are some tips for travel therapists for before/during/and after their assignments:

1. Before the assignment, research about companies in the industry. It’s best to go with the company that is going to offer what you are looking for throughout your travel career, not just the first company to find a job for you. Also, make sure you find a recruiter you get along with; and one who knows a little bit about the industry as a whole and who might be able to predict market shifts or geographical trends.

2. Before the assignment, be sure to open up to your recruiter about positions you rank as 1st, 2nd, 3rd choices. Sometimes your first choice isn’t going to work out, but your recruiter should know to begin looking for that next time around. However, giving a few different choices for an assignment will open up your chances for a smoother placement.

3. Before the assignment, if a new state license is needed, be sure to look into it well before. All states are different and have different processes and lengths of time that it takes to get licensed. There is no reciprocity in therapy. So, be prepared so that you don’t have to limit your options.

4. During the assignment, pack light. Some of the therapists that travel with me end up moving every 3 months because they want to be able to see every inch of the US. So, they understand in about 13-14 weeks, they will be packing it all up and moving on. Bring what you need, and not much more…believe me, you’ll thank me later!

5. During the assignment, keep in mind therapy is a small world…enough said

6. During the assignment, before leaving the facility your last day…make sure to turn in all equipment (laptops, name badges, etc) and your time sheet so you don’t have to go back in the next week!

7. After the assignment, stay in touch with your healthcare recruiting firm, even if you don’t take another position right away. You won’t want to “fall off the map” forever, will you? You never know when you will need them…and it might not be for another assignment. Maybe you have a travel therapist friend you need to refer? Send them on and receive a cash bonus when they get placed! Who doesn’t need an extra $500?

If you want to know more about any of these or have questions, you can reach me at 678-993-2316!

Allied travel physical therapists…I need your help! I have a company looking for contract/travel PT’s in the Northeast Mississippi area, and right now, I’m offering a bonus to help out! Not only will you be helping patient populations in the area with rehabilitation, you will be helping out a facility that is in desperate need. We all know how important physical therapy is, and these patients aren’t able to make it into a facility for help. So, we need dedicated PT’s for evaluations and patient care for about 13-14 weeks at a time. The schedule is great, since it is so flexible and the money is so worth it! Keep in mind our travel PT’s make about 15-25% more in travel contracts in general, but for this home health need I am offering a bonus on top of that! Call me if you are interested or just want to learn more about it….678-993-2316!

Hey Allied Therapy Travelers!

I wanted to share with you a reference letter I received from a former traveler of mine. If you are in the business and looking for a recruiter who can help you out, please see below. I am available at 678-993-2316 to help with your next assignment!

To whom it may concern. I would like to praise Nikki Iero for her professionalism and attention to detail. She was my recruiter for an OT contract during 2009. She was very informative and patient during my employment search. During my contract she was attentive and immediately addressed my needs. Throughout the process she made me feel like I was her only client despite working with many others. Recently, I’ve contacted her again regarding employment verification needed by my lender for a home I am purchasing. Despite no longer being an employee, she promptly responded to my lender’s requests and coordinated information with payroll over several days. She is an excellent representative for Cirrus Allied. I would not hesitate to work with her again.

Thank you,

OT Traveler, CO

Allied Healthcare Travelers,

Spring is approaching, and I’ve been keeping my eyes open for the spring/summer hot spots in travel therapy. As the seasons change, different parts of the US become favorable locations for my travel therapists. Right now, I have a handful of travelers on staff with me looking for Northern locations as the weather is finally starting to make its turn. It seems the Southern locations book up quickly during the winter months and open back up once it starts to heat up (which means those locations will now be open for spring/summer!). In the travel world, keep in mind those facilities with the greatest needs are the ones willing to pay top dollar for contracts! So, is that you? Are you looking to make a move this spring? Call me for open listings now!

Hey Allied Travel Therapists!

We’ve been noticing some market trends in the past few months regarding travel therapy. I’ve been seeing more and more travel occupational therapy positions than ever before. With PT being regulated as much as it is lately, PT travel has started to level off. Another trend is that hospital systems are now requiring a full credentialing package with submissions, and this means the agencies need to have prepared profiles well in advance. So, if you working with a recruiter and you think they are jumping the gun on gathering your information…they’re not. They are trying to be fully prepared for you, so the easier you make it for them, the easier the process will be. And lastly, we are seeing travel therapy positions with great pay in cities with lower populations and patient caseloads. I know it sounds crazy, but facilities in rural areas are in such need that they are willing to pay big bucks for contract help!

Are you are looking for your next travel therapy position? Call me to get started!

Hey Travel Therapists! Here is an actual letter, written by a past traveler of mine regarding why Cirrus Allied is a different kind of company. She is an Occupational Therapist who decided to leave the travel world to take a permanent job at home and settle down. Take a look:

“Having been a travel therapist for 3 years now, I can truly say that Cirrus Allied is the best travel therapy company around! Working in different facilities, meeting new people and advancing your skill set is exciting and valuable to your long term career– but it’s also important to know someone’s got your back and is really listening to your needs. Working through Cirrus Allied provides me with that peace and security.

Cirrus Allied is everything and more as a travel company. I have never felt like just a number with them, as I have with other travel companies. Recently, I learned that I needed to have a very important surgery at the end of my latest contract. The Cirrus Allied team went above and beyond. They treated me like a member of the family and worked to ensure my health needs would be met. Companies that exhibit such a degree of compassion and care are a rarity these days. It is such a comfort to know that Cirrus Allied is such a company.

Anytime I have ever called or sent an email, I get an immediate response and someone is always willing to help me. I have never had to wait more than an hour, much less days (as with some companies) to receive a response.

Cirrus Allied has allowed me to travel up and down the east coast and has worked diligently to find settings and locations that meet my personal needs and desires. They are upfront and honest about what they can do and consistently go that extra mile for their employees. They make them feel right at home from the very beginning of the contract.

Cirrus Allied is timely and efficient. They do what they say they will and offer more than you would ever expect. You can always get in touch with your recruiter day or night. You don’t have to worry about there being a gap between assignments -unless you choose to take time off. They are also amazing at negotiating and helping you out if you have any problems while on an assignment. They will be there for you through the duration of the project.

After working with Cirrus Allied, I would never choose to work for another travel company. They are the best because they have the best team in place—a team of recruiters that listens, understands and cares, as one would for a dear friend or family member. If you are thinking of traveling or are trying to compare what’s out there, I strongly recommend Cirrus Allied. Not only will your needs be met, but you will also be able to rest easy knowing you made the right choice with Cirrus Allied. They are the one travel company that will always care and have your back.”

If this sounds like a company you want to work for, call me at 678-993-2316
